Calvin Mitchell was one of four high school draft picks of the Pittsburgh Pirates during the first two rounds of the 2017 draft. He ranks the highest in the Pirates system from that group, coming into the 2020 season rated as the 18th best prospect in the system. Mitchell has shown power potential from the left side during his two seasons and could continue to add more power as he gets older and fills out more. His 2017 Bowman Draft card is considered his rookie and the Bowman people put a “1st” in the top right-hand corner on front to show that it’s his first card from them. Mitchell is shown mid-swing in a full Pirates grey uniform, with a crowd behind him. Either the crowd or the uniform was photoshopped in, as Mitchell spent his first season in the GCL, where there are no paid crowds.
