Braxton Ashcraft was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round of the 2018 draft, with the 51st overall pick. This 2018 Bowman Draft card is considered his rookie card and it shows the 6’5″ right-hander mid-delivery, wearing a full Pirates uniform. The Bowman Draft sets actually photoshop many of the players into uniform and Ashcraft is an obvious example of that work. In 2018, he pitched in the Gulf Coast League, where they don’t wear the road blacks for the Pirates due to the hot weather and they don’t pitch in front of crowds, which you can see in the background of his card. Ashcraft had a nice showing in his debut and a strong spring in 2019 led to him being skipped a level to Morgantown. He’s currently ranked as the tenth best prospect in the system and he has the upside of a Major League starter.
